The Kootenay Pro Series is happy to announce that the Kerry Ellingboe owner of the Petro-Canada and Subway in Radium Hot Springs has joined the tour as an additional sponsor for the 2011 and 2012. Thank you Kerry!
As the 2011 golf season fast approaches we would like to take the opportunity to thank Rick Lea and Nevin Thompson of Fletcher Leisure Group for their continued support of the Kootenay Tour.
Currently the Kootenay Pro Series is working towards the final touches on the schedule for the 2011 season. The tour is looking at a schedule consisting of six one day events, our Kootenay Cup and the Tour Championship.
Also at this time the Tour is looking at adding some new sponsors to the Tour.
If you would be interested in becoming a sponsor please contact Michael Van Horne at golfacademy@radiumresort.com.
The 2010 Kootenay Pro Series Tour Championship was held Monday, September 20th and Tuesday, September 21st at Trickle Creek Golf Course and Bootleg Gap Golf Course. Players were faced with a difficult challenge on Monday at Trickle Creek, but by days end three men were tied for the lead. Trevor Simkins (Bootleg Gap), Scott Shouldice (Fernie) and Ryan Wells (Eagle Ranch) all fired 74s to take the first round lead. They were pursued by three players two shots back. Matt Barker (Radium Resort), Doug Schneider (Trickle Creek) and Trevor Metcalf (Eagle Ranch) all fired 76s and were poised to make a move on Tuesday. Tuesday saw all 23 players in the field make their way to Bootleg Gap for the final round of the Tour Championship. Players were greeted with the 4 seasons over the course of the day. By the time the hail settled, Simkins and Shouldice both fired 1-under 71s and found themselves in a playoff. Simkins then chipped in on the 1st playoff hole to capture the 2010 Kootenay Pro Series Championship. He earned $1000 for his efforts while Shouldice earned $800. Ryan Wells and Trevor Metclaf each earned $650 as they finished tied for third.
Thanks again to Doug Schneider (Trickle Creek) and Trevor Simkins (Bootleg Gap) for hosting the finale. Both courses are in great shape!
Also a huge thank you goes to Rick Lea (Adams,Aur) and Nevin Thompson (Sunice) from Fletcher Leisure Group. Remember to think of them when you do your buying for the upcoming season!
Finally, I would like to thank everyone for their support of the tour. We would obviously not have one if we did not have the players each and every week of the event. As you may know, I am no longer going to be in the valley therefore this was my last season as commissioner of the Pro Series. Mike Van Horne (Springs at Radium) will be taking over the events for next season. If you are interested in hosting an event for next season please get in contact with Mike as he will be putting together a schedule over the winter. He will be in contact with everyone as well.
